Thrush Soup

posted in: Uncategorized | 2

Turdidae are definitely one of my favourite passerine families. Elegant songbirds that include blackbirds, assorted thrushes, redwings, fieldfares and the rare and elusive ouzel.

As a new project I have decided to make some simple illustrations of the 6 UK Turdidae. Good illustrations of birds are surprisingly hard to find, and I want to help my grandkids to recognise the different kinds of birds, having mostly failed when raising my own children.

Here is the preliminary sketch, for a generic shape and layout…

I would write more, but I must go and make soup for my mother. Not thrush soup though, I’d never eat a bird, they’re too beautiful.
